The City's Big Green Garbage Truck

arrives to empty the dumpster for the first time
after our over-thirty-inches of snow -- Hallelujah!

The big green truck eases between the mounded whiteness
wearing a mantle of snow. The dumpster's over-filled

with steel-sack baggies and snow, by the new pine fence
dividing us from the marble church next door -- Glory!

The big green truck sticks out its loving claws
to lift the steel cube from its prison of ice and snow,

dumps the jumbled contents into its compacting maw -- drops
back the empty container, demolishes a stretch of fence!

Lord Jesus! There will need to be healing hands,
Christian charity, a certain mending of fences.
