    Default Boarded Up Liverpool Shop Fronts Businesses Etc One in eight shops apparently empty

    Due to the recession, one in eight shops now stand empty as recession hits high streets.

    Its not the recession thats hit the closures,its there's far too many new ones opening up.

    If Liverpool One had not opened, it would be one in twenty

    Agree with you on this = St John's Precinct and Clayton Square are half empty.

    The biggest killer to high street shop closures was the opening of these retail parks on the outskirts of the city,this prime land could have been used for new housing and then the larger shops in the city centers would have been active all the time.

    thats what I still love about duke street, large parts of the area have been rebuilt, restored etc then stuck in amongst the building, there are these ltitle gems

    There's A great shop front from the 1890/1900 in Dale street ie next to the health food shop...its called PRS(Progressive Radio Spares)

    Now that Rapid Hardware has moved to Williamson Square (and good luck to them, onto bigger and better things), there are empty units the whole length of Renshaw Street.

    Whilst I'm sorry to see the current state of Renshaw Street, I'm very pleased to see a local business doing the trade it is.
