Default Cammel Lairds from Birkenhead Priory

Climbed St Mary`s Tower in the Birkenhead priory yesterday, still getting my breath back.
The red ship, the Nexans Skagerrak looks like its some sort of gas carrier,

Nice to see the activity there. That huge circular thingy looks like it might be for undersea cable storage.

Thanks for climbing all the way up there to bring us such pictures.

I know me too. I used to go past there every day and never went. Funny that you never take the time to visit theses places.

Judging by the amount of gas bottles lying around I think it`s an L P G carrier

The bell on the tower of the priory

The automatic bell ringing gear made in 1835 by the liverpool firm of James Gondilff

Fairly new staircase to the tower

Alongside the staircase runs a wooden rail containing the names of all the crew of the ill fated submarine H M S Thetis

This plaque is at the bottom of the staircase

Good pic's Gd,I always feel infuriated by the "Thetis" disaster! But for the bungling by the authorities, many of the crew might have been saved! Nice to see the names commemorated.
