    Exclamation Red Phone Boxes

    Red Phone Boxes

You know what they look like but do

many exist on our streets? How many and where are they located? Is it true there are less than 5 on Liverpool's streets?

    The challenge is to photograph

or share the pictures you already have of our beloved red phone boxes on Liverpool's streets and the wider urban environment.

    The prize? A meeting

meeting with this fella who frequents them often I've

    heard:

There are probably more in the USA than there are over there, just about every

    British pub has one.
You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.

Have a close look at the phonebox in the background. I forget the model but its a very rare larger one like the TARDIS inside !,
Fond memories of phone boxes I was responsible for the painting and cleaning of them whist at BT in 1991/92. Even added an extra in the painting spec to pick out the crown in black!

Some in conservation areas are painted green!

I think BT donated one to Merseyside Museums , think its in the Juniper Street store.

Anyone remember the OAKHAM booths? those phones in like an OLD OAK HAM shaped box painted yellow (yuk)on a pole which were introduced in bad vandalism areas rather than a standard kiosk.

    regards

    Rob

Both these boxes are listed. The larger one, the K2 type is the rarer and dates from 1924 and the other is the K6, not as rare.
And I feel very nerdy knowing that! It's only because it cropped up on one of my walks, honest!

better views of the Town Hall ones

there used to be one at the end of my street when I was a kid (now one of those crappy new ones), that was the right hand goal post and the pillar box was the left hand one.

had a passion for both ever since
