    Default Jackson and Deyes

Does anyone know anything about a firm of fruiterers called Jackson and Deyes Ltd. ? I have a photograph which I would date c1910 - 1929 of a horse and cart outside a large shop with the title Jackson and Deyes Ltd. It appears to incorporate Custom House Chambers - though that may be the address of the shop. I think it is my grandfather's shop - Arthur Jackson - and he was supposed to have been based near the Albert Docks. Any help much appreciated.

Not sure as I don't know Liverpool very well. They were supposed to be wholesalers - Fruit Merchants is the description on the door and above is Custom House Chambers. Where is Bold Street ?

I seem to remember a furniture shop at the top of Bold Street where Rapid Furniture was. It was on the left going up. I've seen their little plastic marker underneath dining tables.

I wouldn't know for sure, but I dont think there would have been any wholesalers in Bold st itself, especially in that era,as it was Liverpools premier shopping street! There are/were a couple of areas where fruit and veg' were distributed, which from memory, where the Victoria st./Williamson square areas, but I might be wrong!
