Killer Poetry

.....all the lousy little poets coming round
tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson

......................Leonard Cohen, "The Future"

Remember the Santa we hired from Macy's
who turned out to be John Wayne Gacy?
There's too much murder and mutilation,
our relationship a corpse out in the rain.

Recall how we shared so much fun, dear,
until you sneered that I was Ted Bundy.
So the Christmas lights flashed on and off
with the jollity of The Bells by Rachmaninov.

You tried to cut off your ear like Van Gogh
and the crowd yelled out, "Go, girl, go!"
Our time together was altogether fine,
now the memories ain't worth a dime.
