Default Suitcases Left Out in the Rain (CTG)

Suitcases Left Out in the Rain

    On the worn, drenched pavement,
    the emigrants' abandoned luggage,

    families who have travelled onward
    to fresh possibilities, new horizons.

The port still sings their praise
-- though they have all gone away:

Kline and Mulldoon, Ngami and Kandinsky,
each hefting their heritage to the sun.

    Thanks Chris, very nice.

    People's lives in a box,
    their future and history,
    within paper-lined sides,
    only to be aired,
    on the other side.

[Sorry Chris, I was thinking what to say and it turned into this.]

Nice one Chris your words fit well with that beautiful and yet sad piece of street heart.

I love those suitcases.. I find them inspirational and very artsey.. I see it as travel- seeing the world- and feeding the imagination...

Many people can take pictures with those suitcases.. I for one many years ago.. Liverpool Art academy is brilliant to have this as a sculpture to reflect upon...

    Ta Chris..

Thanks, naked lilac. This was Donna and I looking at the explanatory key for the art installation "A Case History" by John King in Mount Street during our visit of May 2007, photograph by Gerrard Fleming. There's more on the artwork here.
