Fishing party going ashore at Monks Ferry slipway. The monks from the Birkenhead Priory operated their ferry from this area after recieving the rights from King Richard the third in 1330. They sold them later on and the last ferry left here in 1878

Scanned these off some old photos of days out fishing with my elder brother off the Alexandra dock wall by the entrance to the Gladstone dock.Thats me in the first pic and him in the second one.The dock board charged ?3 a year with us pensioners free, for a permit. I would cycle there from Kirkby and he would meet me there by car. We would have a flask of tea and some biscuits,he would always bring a hip flask of brandy which I drank because he was driving.
This was before the terrorists attacks, now if you want to fish there now you have to belong to a club and pre-book in groups of 10.

    Hey Pablo,

Consortium the trawler type vessel is based in Liverpool Marina. The Rib is based in the marina too.

Both the police and the fire brigade ribs were made by MST which is based in Brunswick business park next door.
