Default Impressionistic Snow in Baltimore (CTG)

    Impressionistic Snow in Baltimore

    It will be mostly gone
    by Monday but here, now,

    on Saturday night, wet
    snow lays on sidewalks,

on grass. Got to take care
I don't end up on my ass.

    Very good Chris

Observation/ Question for you: Baltimore has the same latitude as Portugal, yet it seems to get more snow than Scotland?

"...end up on my ass" - we don't want that now, do we?

So next time you venture out...remember those immortal words:

"Hey, let's be careful out there!" [...I'm more of a Hill Street Blues fan, than The Wire]

    Hi dazza

Yes Baltimore is the same latitude as Portugal but, geographically speaking, we are subject to a large extent winter or summer to the weather coming from the centre of the landmass of the nation. So thus, in summer, it can lead to 90-100 degree F temps here, and in winter, when there is a freeze in the midwest, it can affect us. Also the rain systems coming up the coast from the south, i.e., from the Caribbean hit the colder air this time of year and bring us snow or at least freezing precipitation. "Freezing rain" can coat trees and cars and sidewalks and can be very hazardous... I think you call it black ice.

    Thanks Chris,
...and we complain about the weather here!
It's nothing to that comparison. Extreme weather - it doesn't really exist in England [although we are suffering more floods, recently].

You seem to suffer from a number of big windstorms and rain leading to flooding as you say.

    Thanks for that Chris.
I don't think I'll complain about our rain again.
    Well you know I will.
    But I'll try not to.

Hi Gerry, Naked Lilac, and Pablo.

You each combined to make me smile. I appreciated and needed the smile. Thank you, friends!

Thanks, naked lilac, for the virtual Christmas card and the fine photograph of the Hawaiian Christmas tree. Saturday's snow did disappear as predicted in the poem, at least in downtown Baltimore and Washington. More frozen precip may be on the way though. . . .
