    Taken from the official report...

A key objective of the proposed new management regime for the gardens will be to improve safety and security and to tackle the current problems of anti-social behaviour.
Restricting access during the night would seem to be a good thing not a bad thing. A similar scheme is already in use further along the river towards the city, although from dusk to dawn is too restrictive in my opinion. Its ok in the summer but in the winter it just doesn't work. It doesn't mean we should cancel the whole development just because of it though. Just sort out some sensible hours.

I wonder if this is all scare tactics anyway. The official documents say the prom will be retained in council ownership

5.9. The promenade will be retained in Council ownership and this will
ensure that people can continue to take advantage of it for
recreation and amenity. The promenade will not be used for
construction traffic other than access for paving, landscaping
and fencing works that cannot be done via the main site. Such
access will be controlled via a licence and public use of the
promenade will be a primary condition.

What area does she mean? Its all been closed off to the public (hasn't it?) for decades, how on earth do/have the residents utillised it and enjoyed it?

Think Prom, Kev. She thinks the Promenade will be closed off. Just the Prom. She might be wrong, but she means that area of the Prom

Phew! I thought I sorted that in my previous post.

I am thinking the prom, the prom to me is this area:

So they are going to restrict access to the public along here? I didn't think the development touched this area, only the fenced off area behind that was used for the GF.

And if the develpment isn't going to restrict access for people here, then I can't see what the problem is with the development if it means a 25 year old piece of wasteland will be opened up and developed, with the gardens restored.

I am with you Kev, in believing that the PROM, as you show it would not be touched nor the little area of grassed land just to the right of your pic.
I bet any work that is carried out will encroatch onto the area.

As for the Funnel you show = part of Liverpool history left to fall apart.
Who is responsible for the Prom. Is it the council or some private quango??
Can we get a body from Blue Funnel Line to give us some paint for it, or is it beyond economical repair now ?

Not much left of those Oriental Gardens and my lens wasn't wide enough for certain angles.

And too much leaves and shadows on the stands of the pics some of ye took as well.

Shame I couldn't take my machete to chop through the leaves.

I think its very sad that we will loose whats left of the oriental gardens as a direct result of the minority who are objecting to the developments. We all loose out.

Can;t the Council create a conspiracy theory of these protesters so we can have some Oriental Gardens?

Are we going to lose the Japanese Gardens?
Does the Japanese Government know? - as they gave them to the City of Liverpool, and they were always intended to be kept.

Eventually the vandals will burn them down, I would have liked Max to have taken pics of them in their current state.

Me too and would have gladly taken my kids down once they were restored for all rather than me on my own crawling through a hole in the fence to take pics.

However, only the objecting residents know why they are objecting and stopping the development/ restoration.

I know what you mean... we climbed through a couple of years ago and had a look.... wanted to cry when i saw the Japanese garden

The Chinese garden at that time didn't have the boards on the pagodas and someone had tried to burn the main one down

There were a few undesirables hanging around too, which put me off staying longer

There wont be much left soon if the proposals dont go through soon
