Thread: Queen Mary 2 and the Ghostly Statue

Default Queen Mary 2 and the Ghostly Statue

There has been correspondence in the Daily Post this week which I am surprised hasn't been commented on in this group.

It is of course best taken with a pinch of salt - but sharing it out of interest - and perhaps there might have been someone who might have seen something! ;-))

An letter appeared in the Liverpool Daily Post this week
claiming that several passengers on arriving at Liverpool on board QUEEN
MARY 2 on October 20 saw a large ghostly statue on the Liverpool waterfront
    near the Beetham Tower.

The writer claimed that the statue was of a long haired woman and was around 200 feet high and was wondering if anyone on the Birkenhead waterfront photographing the arrival of QM2 had seen the phenomenon as they claim it must have been visible from there.

The writer also wondered if the Merseyside author Tom Slemmen, who writes on paranormal activities on Merseyside would comment on what was seen.

Mr. Slemmen did reply to the letter in the Friday November 20 edition of
    the Daily Post.

He claimed what the passengers saw could be a time slip from
the future, showing a structure which will eventually appear on the
    waterfront in years to come.

He further speculated that rather than being a "long haired woman" it was
likely to be a statue of John Lennon which may be erected Statue of Liberty
    style near the Liverpool waterfront!

All sounds like a load of "hocus pokus" - but of course if you were down on
the Wirral waterfront that day photographing the ship's arrival - might be
    worth carefully checking your photographs!

    John Lennon statue of Liberty

Maybe the wine on QM2 is a bit strong.

We will be called Lennon city if Slemen gets his way.

How many passengers saw it? Who were they? etc.

Which Beetham Tower? There are two.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

Isnt the ale free on QM2? I think this is a case of spirits in a glass creating spirts on the Waterfront. 200 foot woman indeed.......................

    The west one was mentioned!

I have posted this info on the Liners Yahoo Group and on the Irish Sea Shipping group - just incase anyone saw anything.

But really its just one of those "tall tales" - but worth mentioning just in case! ;-))

I did read it in the echo or somewhere but considering the passengers on the QM2 would have cameras, camcorders and mobile phones with which to capture this 'phenomenon' - and none seemed to - then probably just a cloud formation of some sort. I saw a vertical one the other day that at first we mistook for smoke, it came from the horizon up into the sky with nothing else around, but it was clearly a cloud.

Yeh, ask Tom Slemmen because he'll give a really objective take on events?

Come on now, look who the guy hangs out with...

Hmm... I wonder if this will appear in Slemen's next book. I wouldn't be surprised if this letter was sent in by Crypid Frank himself.
