    Angry Princes Park Gates

Anyone know when theyre going to finish the park gates? Looks like its still just the undercoat and its the shade of baby poo, and what happened to the plan to pick out the sunburst effect in gold? Theres supposed to be all this money for refurbishing the park but they havent even done what they were telling us about years ago.

But that's nothing new! Give parks & gardens a ring,as there has been a lot of work on other parks, like Sefton, and Stanley! 0151 233 3001.

    P.S. Welcome to Yo!

    Default Those Gates

Couldn't agree more Lil, see my previous postings here:

I think the present colour is meant to be the final one, but the gilding is supposed to be going ahead sometime soon. I believe that the delay has been due to a 'misunderstanding' between the corpy and the Friends Of Princes Park.

Let's hope it ends up looking as good as it used to - see the photo also in this thread.

The Friends Of Princes Park at their meeting on Jan.18th were assured by Derek Dottie of Liverpool Parks and Gardens that the gilding of the Gates will definitely go ahead, though we still do not have a definite date for this...

    Default HERE COMES THE SUN!

The newly restored Princes Park Gates with the central features now properly gilded. The full 'sunburst' effect, with the 'rays' picked out in 'gold' paint on a black surrounding frame was apparently a relatively recent development (Anyone know when exactly?). The original colour was a dull green, similar to the 'Invisible' Green now used on the refurbished gates and this was applied uniformly to the whole area.

I believe that the new treatment combines a degree of authenticity and restraint with an appearance that is visually most striking and one that appropriately heralds the main point of entry to this fine city park...

    But what do others think?
