Do you have a close-up of the artwork on the blue doors? It looks interesting.

The blue doors also set off the building bettter that the doors shown in the wiki link.

What beautiful brickwork GD and not a movement joint in sight!

The building seems to be running a temperature. Seriously though, it's a real shame. Liverpool council should be ashamed of itself.

    Hi Joe,
the good news is,the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded £3:7 million for it's restoration,in January ! I dont know much about the "Florrie", except it's held dear by the many people who went through it's doors!

I hope they reinstate the spire.

Fab pics of the Florie, Joe. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I do hope something will be done to preserve this important building.

I believe our street was the dividing line between Booker Av. primary school and Duncombe Rd. - our street kids seemed divided between the two schools.

My sister still lives on one of the roads behind the Booker Av. Post Office, and mum is still in the same house (since 1950!!)
Sounds like you are talking about Derby Road. If so do you remember the Caulfields?

The old Toxteth Town Hall in High Park St, built in1865 and named then, the Township of Toxteth Park Public Offices. It is now a citizens advice bureau and a listed building.

The tower of the old water reservoir in High Park St which served the districts of Dingle and Toxteth till the conversion to Wales.

Nice pics Gregs dad, of Toxteth Town Hall & also The water tower and its doorway.
It would be nice as a 'visitor attraction' the water works, real history. I asked United Utilities some time ago, and they were't really interested. The Everton water tower would be interesting to see as well.

Yep... Derby Rd. where Garston Old Road does a turn at a funny almost roundabout...

The Booker Av. shops where at Brodie Av.

The Caufields had one of the Garston Old Rd. shops, right?

Caulfields shop? wasn't that opposite Garston Hospital? (Pet shop) I used to deliver dog food there. Caulfields also had a haulage business,
all the wagons were an unusual shape (rounded roof)

Was this where the haulage was - now new housing in a gated courtyard?

I have been up on that reservoir. That is Mt. Carmel school playground next to it and our balls used to end up there so once in a while they let us go up and collect the balls, very exciting.

Hi Norm NZ. Yes that's the shop. The Empire cinema is also sadly lying empty and looking a bit worse for wear.
