I've just has a "decko" on Wikipedia and see that you are absolutely correct, Georgie. Specifically:

"The Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes (International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts) was a World's fair held in Paris, France from April to October 1925. The term Art Deco was derived by shortening the words Arts Décoratifs in the title of this exposition."

Now I've "larned" something. So thanks, George, mate.

    Cheers

Basically I know about Art Deco because I did me homework on it many moons ago, I liked the style and had a few ornaments of that period too,but I'm more into Victorian era now.

You can't beat these eras forhome decor, providiingyou have the expensive wallpaper toboot...not like that Fagans cheap tat.

Our house is Victorian, so we have kept the large hallway in that style to keep the character of the house.
We have 1920s/30s art deco in our front room because I love that period and our large rooms can carry it off.

Our other rooms are modern. We have a very modern bathroom - all mirrors and chrome.

Although we have 3 different styles there, we have mixed the styles well in a way so they don't clash.

ps, no dust is allowed to settle where I am !!
