These old buildings are all on Henry Street, must have been a hive of industry judging by the number of warehouses, Mostly converted to flats now

I think that the white building on the left in the first picture was a gun club, with a shooting range.

The buildings on Henry Street were the first examples of merchants living and working at home (living above the shop).

This area was also the first example of a property boom, whereby there was a premium attached to the land and properties that were nearest to the first central docks. Hence, why a lot where built quite tall for the time.

The merchants house which is now the Greek Taverna in the photo above dates from around 1780 I think and is a listed builing too.

    Great Pic's Ged!

In my opinion All these biuldings should be Listed (at least Grade 2), then (maybe) something could be done to breath some Fresh Life into them!

I agree, though i'm afraid being listed guarantees nothing. The owners, council or otherwise should be answerable to somebody after a certain time.

Really good photies of yesteryear. Amazing when you walk down old streets and see the designs of warehouses etc, built over 100 years ago.

You've captured my brother's birthplace on that last pic Joe. It was No.94 Seel Street in 1951 during a short foray away from the L3 area.

Alma de Cuba resturant and bar, the old St Peter`s church in Seel St. Built in 1788,it was given to the Polish community in 1976 and became Our Lady of Czestochowa but in 1978 it closed it`s doors.
It reopened as a resturant and bar with quite a lot of the old church still intact.

    Thanks for your comments folks,
I`ve passed there many times never been inside before, I was the only person in there at 2pm till 2 more people came in.
It was the winner of Best Resturant and Bar in 2008,2009,2010. Don`t know what the prices are, I only had a brandy but the staff were very friendly. I was offered a special coffee made in a glass with 4 different coloured portions to sample but I had to decline as I don`t like coffee .

The building is steeped in history see
