Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

Went down to Seacombe Ferry to watch it coming in. Mighty impressive. Thought for a moment it was gonna hit the ferry terminal. Looked like a major job turning her around.

Looks like she's got two additional funnels modelled upon the spires of the Liver Building.
    Great photo.

Queen Mary has three funnels, the big red one and two aft painted white.

When she blows her whistle, it is on the Red Funnel, it is the original whistle off the old Queen Mary, now retired as a hotel ship in Long Beach California.

My initial reaction to this ship was - "I don't care". The Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth were Liverpool owned and never once sailed up the Mersey. Cunard moved out of the city.

Should I take heed of the parable, the Prodigal Son? Well he came home, this is only visiting.

Hey Brian - hope you're well. Kevin

Not so bad Kevin, I had the stitches out on Friday and go to Physio twice a week. Not allowed to drive until I see the surgeon in three weeks. Still got my drinking arm that gets plenty of physio.

    Cheers

Not an easy ship to get excited about - a large barge with accommodation on top. Cruise ships used to have style but now it's about maximising the passengers you can get afloat then making compromises to try and get your block of flats look like a ship. They've only partially succeeded.

This is trying to look like a 1930s liner. OK to look at. The large cruisers like Grand Princess I think look good. The sterns have real nice touches to them.
