    Default Iron Horse

Anybody know what happened to the sculpture of the rampant iron horse that was on the corner of Hanover Street, the old Boots building.

The last I heard it was in storage and was suppossed to be 'carted' out when the new L1 was opening.

Thanks Ged, L1 is open now, so why don't they wheel it out. Is it spose to be going back in its original position.

I heard that the city were pleased to be shut of it when the 'landscaping' was done. It may not appear ever again!

I saw a picture on Flickr a couple of months ago of this horse (which I can't find now). It showed the statue in the Council yard in Stanley (Newton Road).

Well, it's not me favourite statue, but I like it all the same. I love art around the city. Especially in places that you don't expect it to be. We need more...

Funny you should mention that - I was walking past Church Street the other day and wondered what had happened to it...On the subject of statues, does anybody know what has happened to the John & Cecil Moores statue(s)? They were outside Littlewoods on Church Street. Being an Everton fan & an expert on the city, I'm sure Ged will know

I recieved this from LCC today:

    "Thank you for your enquiry.
The scheme proposals for Church Street evolved around a theme which included representation of the ribbons of life and the horse sculpture was removed to make way for the new project. The new scheme included its own sculptural elements but unfortunately these never came to fruition. The horse is carefully stored in the depot at Newton Road and we are investigating an alternative site in the city centre for it."

    Hope this helps
