    Default P.MAC/J.LENNON'S HOUSES

Finally got round to going on this tour, the only one were you can go inside the houses.John Lennon's,at Menlove avenue, and Paul Mac's,in Forthlin rd!Even if you're not a moptops fan,it's fascinating seeing the lack of stuff we just take for granted, now,in both of the houses,i.e. carpet squares, with lino round the outside, wooden draining boards, coal fires, very basic by today's standards, and even though J.L. lived in a so-called middle class area, there wasn't that much difference, from P.M's council house, the address must have been enough! The only "problem" is, you can't take pic's inside, but see if you think one of the custodian looks a little familiar ?

The guy in the denim jacket looks familiar, but can't for the life of me think who it is, or where from
To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world.

Yes Squiggs, 92 Broadway Avenue, Wallasey, mentioned on that 3rd pic on page 1 of this thread. It was his 2nd home during wartime Liverpool after moving from 10 Sunbury Rd.

Yep, go to Wallasey to get away from bombing? Right near to Birkenhead docks? Mmmmmm.

Thanks Ged !, thought I was right, I lived close to Broadway for a while nice house and a wide Road.
That part of Wallasey got quite alot of bomb damage in the war,so I'm not so sure escaping from Liverpool would have helped.

Having seen a copy of the original plans for Speke, it was supposed to have a Marina, Cinemas and a promenade amongst other facilities. A lot of emphasis was placed upon the fact that the bosses and the workers of industry would live side by side and that the estate would be pretty much self contained.

Having worked in Speke for 30 years, for once i am in agreement with Waterways. Suffice to say iam not a fan of the place.

Two more addresses for McCartney that dont seem to figure in any tours. 72 Western Avenue Speke and 12 Ardwick Road Speke. I was once talking to the guy that presently lived i the Ardwick road house and he was in contact with Mike McCartney who had invited him to photograph/video shoots. McCartneys blacked out windows limo has been seen in Ardwick Road in the past on occasions when he has been up here. Sounds like he still has an oggle.

They figure on my tours though

    As does this one.

Of course the worst bombing was to have already been and gone by then but they took no chances.
