    Default Vote early, vote often.

    Smurf,

If YOU do not vote at the next GE you will certainly not get a vote on the EU.
Is this not exactly the reason that will make you vote this time?

Are we all so sure that the New-Labour vote is sound?
Or might it be that the anti-tory vote is sound?

I do not know but it might be true that there is nobody who lives where you live that could do better in Parliament than that 'nobody' NuL foists upon you.

Perhaps Lord Mandelson knows better than you?

Anyway, vote/don't vote the victor will take us all as agreeing with them and carry on doing as they think best. No matter what.

I agree with Scouse that it's a waste of time voting. I always vote, but still feel its a waste of time.

What do u mean by that comment ? Do u mean I won't be allowed to vote in the future or that whoever gets into power will make the decisions without asking our opinions via another vote ?

    Scousesmurf,

We are not set to get a vote on the EU constitution, this will not change if NuL get back in.
It might happen with the Tories, but is that too high a price?

With the EU 'constitution' signed and sealed I do not know when, if ever, we will get any choice in the future of Europe. We will get lots more done to us without any say, but it is much like that already. Is it not?
With the voter-registration changes that are set to come into force soon we will be individually registered, not by household as now.
ID card or no ID card we WILL have to prove who we are BEFORE we can vote.
So much is on the cards, so much has been done to our liberties thus far IF we elect either of the two big partys (Red or Blue) the gap between we-the-people and the professional politician will get wider and wider.

'They' say..."Vote Red or Blue" as if that were the only option open to us.
If we-the-people accept that as true.......???

...You will not hear from me that One Size Fits All or find me in a Lather.

What I propose is possible though not Strictly Commercial.

Any of the big-three partys might admit that "We're Only In It For The Money.".

Rather, i say that it is Them Or Us; from this Man From Utopia this could be Civilisation Phase III

plenty of reasons for me not to vote...

They're all as bad as one another
That means you do not understand the basics of politics.

They wouldn't change anything that would greatly benefit me
    Reinforces above.

and I live in one of the safest labour seats in the country, so even if I did feel like voting for someone else it would be a wasted vote anyway
No vote is wasted in a democracy.

Besides from giving me the chance to vote, doesn't a democracy also mean I've got the right whether I vote or not ?

As for me not understanding politcs, I really don't wanna understand it... but I'm sure plenty of ppl would say my opinions suggest I've probably got a really good grasp of it

    ItZas,
Thank you, I have tried again to post this matter on the 'problem' board, nothing yet.

I rang my local council this morning to enquire after forms and leaflets to do with running in the election. [general Qs, I am not running] They simply referred me to the electoral commission web site.

I rather hope this will become a new sport as they were somewhat taken aback by my call.

Default "We are all in this together" We are told...

This is what I think of that...

"We are all in this together"
Said the spider to the fly
Please do not protest of any haste
We each too soon shall die

"We are all in this together"
Said the virus to it's host
    We shall go forth together
Till one or both are toast

"We are all in this together"
    Now? But never other times
    Unless there must be killing
I am hidden by your crimes

"We are all in this together"
Don't throw to me that line
I do not wave but am drowning
To pay again for what is mine

"We are all in this together"
In you, you say I trust
True, some are steak and some are kidney
But your pie is nought but crust

    Default Further thoughts.

How often have you heard this from a politician...

"If the public do not like what we are doing they can vote us out at the next election; this is a democracy."

    My reponse is this...

    1. Play them at their own game.
[this is what they want (see above) Whichever party wins the majority in the Commons the other will get about half the seats in the Commons.
    2. Don't play the game.
[this is how the non-voters and the spoiler groups (NOTA, Loonies etc.) go about it. Are they being 'positive' by being negative?]
    3. Play their game WITHOUT them.
This is my way. This is a positive way. This is a Democratic way. This is one sure way of getting progress.

Do any of you wish another five years of being ignored by the very people that promise you so much time and again?
Do you think that ONLY somebody foisted on you by a Party group can have the answers to your questions, the solutions to your problems?
Are you or is there nobody you are aware of from among your own community capable of driving OUR country and OUR Democracy forward?
Are the strangers in which you place all your trust 'blessed' or otherwise raised above the common hoard?

I ask that you each and all employ your vote for your own benefit and for the benefit of your neighbours and NOT donate your vote to the usual slime balls that promise so much and deliver only for themselves.
