Default Vote for option 4 or more.

    Neighbours,

Are we-the-people tied 'til death do us part', to the present political system?

Whichever political colour you think yourself, are you one of those who thinks political change is beyond you?

In the 2005 General Election (GE) many of 'us' did not bother voting...
    Garston-45% did not vote.
    Riverside-58% " " ".
    Walton-55% " " ".
    Wavertree-49% " " ".
    West Derby- 53% " " ".
    [source-BBC]

Given that the next GE is an important one for democracy here and across Europe. What can be done?
    What can we-the-people do?
There is 'power2010' which asks for the public to submit ideas for change, these ideas to be put to all Prospective Parliamentery Candidates (PPCs) and to ask them each to 'pledge' to bring much needed change about.

I, on the other hand, wish people to consider voting for smaller partys and local Independents. I put this forward to both engage with those who do not have the voting habit AND to change the make-up of Parliament.
Who has the answers to our present problems?
The ones that were all too busy taking care of their own interests to care?
[this includes all that are at present in Parliament]
    Harry Potter?
The time has come, I say, for we-the-people to take responsibility for all that has befallen us and by doing so realise that the answers to these problems TOO are ours.
    (we SHALL pay).
Given the large proportion of Liverpulians that as yet do not vote and all those for who this next GE will be their first chance to vote. No sitting politician has a majority to match their number. ALL is up for grabs.

Are you tied to this present political system?

    Default Liverpool city of song.

Talking of song; I did this to get myself going...

    GO FORTH AND MULTIPLY

    Go forth and multiply
    go forth and multiply

    You request our trust
    as you each now must
    at hustings to molify
    let this be our reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    That you constantly
    affirm your honesty
    and misdeeds you decry
    to this is our reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    Whichever we choose
we are the ones that lose
from all blame do you fly
    now this is our reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    That you have often said
    that you are underpaid
    does more than patience try
    and this is our reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

If you see this as a job for life
to employ your issue and your wife
this your plan has gone awry
    for this is our reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    When fraud you employ
    the high-life to enjoy
    and this you can't deny
    we give you our reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    No thought of we
    at other times see
    our choice let us clarify
    and give you our reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    though it's the public purse
    you say that you nurse
    it's your savings that magnify
    to this we too reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    We fight wars of choice
    in which we've no voice
though our children fight and die
    take this as our reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    Democracy will set us free
    from your plutocratic spree
in bankers hands our futures lie
    they also get this reply

    Go Forth and Multiply
    go forth and multiply

    There is one last thing
    the reason we sing
as Britons we you power deny
Forn this is our considered reply

    Go Forth and Multiply!!!

    Default Name that tune?

    Smurf,
    Well said.and possitive too.

I do wonder if you all were to question the tune of the usual New-Labour lyric?
Half of Liverpools voters seem happy to stay at home and hum along while the rest; bad song or not, will vote for the Pink-Tories. THEN complain.

    Do YOU vote?
Are you content that so many do not?

Unless we take this next GE as seriously as the professionals do we shall become little more than 'farmed' for the benefit of the few and to blazes with the rest.

The one thing that could save us from this humiliation is to have ALL voters voting for the benefit of their own communities.

    "Snide-on lah."

It is YOU that will be paying for whatever is done.

I don't vote, never have done and never will do.

plenty of reasons for me not to vote...

They're all as bad as one another
They wouldn't change anything that would greatly benefit me
and I live in one of the safest labour seats in the country, so even if I did feel like voting for someone else it would be a wasted vote anyway

Don't blame you Scouse. I agree that sometimes it's a waste of time with safe seats. Some people will vote for a monkey as long as they are from a certain party. That applies to both parties.

Default Those who can count do matter.

    smurf,

How wrong you are. I have listed the non-voter percentages from all the Liverpool seats, none are 'safe'. There is not one seat where the non voters are outnumbered by the Labour vote.
EVERY seat IS up for grabs, that is just the mathematics of it.
You are right, that if you, the same as me in London, do not wish to vote that one way your vote counts for nothing.
There are a few ways out of this.
    1. power2010, the wish to obtain a promise from each PPC that voting reform will be taken seriously in the next Parliament.
"Please mister Turkey' might we have Xmas this year?" It seems to me.
    OR
    2. Realising that (some) numbers do not lie, go-for-it!

    Power has drained away each and every day since...you name it;
    WWI
    WWII
    The Tolepuddle Martyrs, Cromwell?

In a democracy, for it to be a Democracy we-the-people rule!

Unless and until we-the-people cannot be bothered.

    Use it or lose it.

That's assuming the non-voters are doing it because they're in a safe seat and think their vote won't matter.

I'm sure a fair few don't vote because they'd vote labour and can't be bothered going because they know they'll get in anyway.

As I said, all the parties are bad as one another. They aren't doing their job for our benefit, their in it for the own gain.

I don't think u'll ever convince me to vote and the only one I'd even consider would be a euro referendum and the ruling party will change us over t o the Euro through the back door when it suits them best
