Nice photo and nice building built in a time when there was great pride in providing public buildings.

Yes, it's the work of Thomas Shelmerdine and built in 1896. He designed several other libraries etc in his time as Liverpool Corporation Surveyor.

Wasn't there a community type of thing based there? I just can't understand why they do this,as there are several libraries, now left vacant, particularly the one in Lister drive, which was given free to the city,by Andrew Carnegie!

Yes I think you're right about community use at one time. There appears to be some interest in re-use of Everton Library:

Lister Drive library is a lovely building. Such a shame to see the way it is now...

It's on High Park Street near Park Rd , Toxteth. The building houses various charitable organisations. See

    http://www.toxtethtownhall.org.uk/

Toxteth Town Hall is a modern term. The building was constructed in the mid 19th C as offices for the Township of Toxteth Park. Hence the TTP letters in the photograph.

    Inside 69A Renshaw Street.

Actually No.75 so i'm told but I did work in here when it was Quiggins hardware store in 1979. A very antiquated set up with the boss man sat behind a big oak desk upstairs.

    Here's the outside.

This is from last year, when the tall ships were here. I know it's a bit old but I've not taken any pics for a while and thought I'd join in
