Default Human Remains Found in Fitzgerald Rd

In my old street, sad indeed if it was the owner who we knew when we lived in Fitzgerald Rd.

Was that the house next door to where you lived? I remember a dilapidated house in Fitzgerald that always had hand written notices in the window.

Human remains in boarded-up Liverpool house
    Sep 3 2009
By Vicki Kellaway and Luke Traynor

HUMAN remains were discovered in a boarded-up Liverpool house.

Astonished workmen found the remains under covers in the bedroom of a house in Fitzgerald Road, Old Swan yesterday.

The home?s windows and doors have been boarded up for several years but neighbours saw a man living in the house up until two years ago.

One neighbour said: "The house was all boarded up and a bit of a mess and I didn?t think anyone lived there. Then one day I saw him coming out of the house.

"I couldn?t believe someone actually lived inside. It was completely enclosed.

"He didn?t look badly dressed or anything."

Complaints were made to the council about the state of the property.

Two years ago council officers plastered a notice across the front of the house which ordered repairs to be made.

It said the owner must fix the broken glazing and remove the plyboard from the front and rear doors among other repairs.

Today council bosses said they made unsuccessful attempts to trace the owner at the time.

A council spokesman said officers were told two years ago that the man had either moved to live with a relative or had moved into a home.

It is possible the remains belong to someone who broke into the property after he moved.

But neighbours were convinced the man they saw was the building?s owner.

One said: "I?ve lived on Fitzgerald Road for 14 years and he?s always been there."

Skeleton found in Old Swan house will take weeks to identify
    Sep 5 2009
    by Vicki Kellaway, Liverpool Echo

DETECTIVES say it could take weeks to reveal the identity of a skeleton found in a boarded-up house.

Police officers are preparing a file on the remains discovered in Fitzgerald Road, Old Swan, on Wednesday.

The information will go to the coroner.

Council workmen discovered the skeleton lying in a bed when they went into the house for repairs.

The remains are thought to be the owner, who boarded up his property to protect himself against youths.

The skeleton will probably be identified through dental records.
