To JLA really requires a station at the airport bringing in the London and the south line to Manchester/Warrington and Merseyrail.
The rolling stock is to be updated in about 4 years time. Light-Rail carriages are the answer. They can negotiate tight curves which is great for expansion of Merseyrail, especially into Liverpool and Wirral Waters. They are cheaper to buy and run.
The Wirral Line from Hamilton Square through the Liverpool centre loop runs at around 5 minutes intervals - true Metro frequencies. The Northern Line schedule is a joke and has not been updated for decades. See post No. 7 on this thread: Overcrowding
A tram link from South Parkway to JLA was proposed by a private company but Merseyrail told them, after they did a lot of work on a proposal, that were putting in bus lanes.
Some people at Merseytravel need removing. The appalling tram scheme is enough to get rid of them alone. They have no idea of what to focus on. They do not know what is waiting to be updated on Merseyrail.

The city's population is to expand, yet they ignore the transport jewel in the crown, Merseyrail. Of "all" transport journeys in Liverpool, Merseyrail only accounts for 2%. This is because it does not cover all of Liverpool and can do easily by recommissioning line and stopping needless road building, which continues relentlessly.
The Canada Dock Branch Line is to be electrified within 4 years, and may merge with Merseyrail if LFCs stadium is built.
