Thread: Liverpool One's Lost Buildings and Structures

Merseyrail is still not being upgraded until 2012 at the least as far as I know. There are class 508s down south (the same as the trains we have up here, I believe they were all used here once too, sent down there due to less need up here) coming off service and doing nothing, could've been used as a short term measure to boost frequency at peak times and such, 15 minutes is inadequate as it stands, on the south part of the Merseyrail network all bus services to Hunts Cross are a lot more frequent and just as heavily loaded at times, shows the need for extra trains.

Merseyrail now want a tram link from LSP to JLA which would be another huge waste especially when it takes the bus all of 10-15 minutes to get there from LSP. Why not focus on the trains which are seemingly left to be ran into the ground and sound worse everytime I go near one which is more frequently recently since they messed around with service C4, ah typical Merseytravel

To JLA really requires a station at the airport bringing in the London and the south line to Manchester/Warrington and Merseyrail.

The rolling stock is to be updated in about 4 years time. Light-Rail carriages are the answer. They can negotiate tight curves which is great for expansion of Merseyrail, especially into Liverpool and Wirral Waters. They are cheaper to buy and run.

The Wirral Line from Hamilton Square through the Liverpool centre loop runs at around 5 minutes intervals - true Metro frequencies. The Northern Line schedule is a joke and has not been updated for decades. See post No. 7 on this thread: Overcrowding

A tram link from South Parkway to JLA was proposed by a private company but Merseyrail told them, after they did a lot of work on a proposal, that were putting in bus lanes.

Some people at Merseytravel need removing. The appalling tram scheme is enough to get rid of them alone. They have no idea of what to focus on. They do not know what is waiting to be updated on Merseyrail.

The city's population is to expand, yet they ignore the transport jewel in the crown, Merseyrail. Of "all" transport journeys in Liverpool, Merseyrail only accounts for 2%. This is because it does not cover all of Liverpool and can do easily by recommissioning line and stopping needless road building, which continues relentlessly.

The Canada Dock Branch Line is to be electrified within 4 years, and may merge with Merseyrail if LFCs stadium is built.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool

Viewing of the underground chamber housing a corner of the Old Dock wall is by group appointment with Grovesnor although I have seen no details of who to speak to.

Personally I think Chavasse so-called Park is a mistake; a better plan would have been to reinstate the streets and excavate the whole dock as a great tourist attraction with a potential link to the Canning/Salthouse/Albert Docks. However the dock entrance ran under Strand Street just where the 'biggest sewer in Europe' now runs plus the city's electrical ring main.

Just to point out that the picture of the Customs House ruins must have been taken from the Sailors Home.
