    does anyone know if i could get a list of inhabitants of trowbridge street in 1838?

    Hi Chez, this is 9 and 11 years earlier than you need, but it lists everyone in the city in 1827 and 1825, just takes a bit of browsing and its free to use

    Although the Pigots Directory says it includes Lancashire and is dated 1828/9 and will get you another year closer.

    Obviously just use the drop down menu to find Lancashire (Aye Lad, we were all Lacastrians back then by gum!) and then pick the decades you need to view.
