Hospital bosses have always insisted the baby was never turned away from Southport.

A spokesperson for Southport and Ormskirk hospital said: ?We advised the ambulance control that because Ormskirk has a fully equipped children?s A&E department, the baby should be taken there.

?However, in line with current protocol, when as ambulance crew has a child who they believe needs urgent attention, they normally just bring it straight to Southport. An area within the department was prepared in case the baby arrived.?

It's good to see all parties are taking part of the blame and not passing the buck, isn't it !!!
