Default The time has come the Walrus said.......

I never thought that this day would ever arrive,I gave it an infrequent moment now and then but quickly moved on to more interesting thoughts. Me, a Pensioner!!!
Those are bent backed old people with walking sticks!! Well I've just joined the club. I've got the stick, but no bent back, I'm bald and silver bearded.........BUT I'M NOT OLD!!!!!!
I'm only 67 and I feel free for the first time in my life!! It is 35 minutes past midnight and I don't feel tired. I'm not a layabed, but I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn anymore,I don't have to wear a suit, jeans and a sweatshirt are fine. I am now free of that daily grind that so restricted my time at the p.c.. Retirement is the liberation that my wife and I looking to enjoy to the full. See you next Wed ,
    Cheers,

Still getting to grips with this retirement malarkey, I still wake up at around 5.30 a.m. I've down sized on the car,no plush interior and real leather seats ; got to get used to a pension,no bonuses or expense account. So this is real life after all? Well, I've still got my p.c., got a store of memories and some time on my hands. If I am to evade gardening and decorating chores I'd better get writing. How are you other retirees coping? Any tips for a newbie?
I await your replies with bated breath,

Enjoy it Brian. These times just slip through our fingers. Hey, probably no need to tell you. Glad to hear you're enjoying it though.

We haven't got a quiz page so I'll stick this here:-
Questions are, who is the statue of, where is the statue and why is it there instead of where it should have been,no prizes for the winner,

    Easily remedied.

Go to the Bingo and keep shouting 'House' when you haven't got it. You'll soon be barred - end of problem.

Go to bowling matches and walk on the green to shake the hands of the players before they start - wearing stilettos. You'll soon be barred - end of another problem.

    Next!

Kevin, I never realised you were such a student of human nature; I will endeavour to put those practises into action at the first available opportunity,

Nonsense, he lived on the iceberg till 1933 and couldn't grow any more food. He died the next year.

Was it because of where he was born in Hanley, refused the sculpture, and
    Lichfield accepted it?

The statue should have been in the Mid Atlantic instead of in the Mid Lands.

If you don't have your own stilettos, borrow Kong's.

Stoke Council would not allow the statue to be erected within the city because they thought that the Captain had been party to a shameful act. Lichfield, beiing a Staffordhire town ,offered the statue a home in its' newly opened Beacon Gardens. And there Captain Smith still stands. However ,when Stoke saw the popularity ratings for the James Cameron film Titanic, they thought they would cash in on it and asked Lichfield for the statue. Lichfield council gave them the sailors farewell. ( That story was told to me by Dave the bin man who works in Lichfield )

That's a great story Brian. I always thought the Captain done his best. Is this not true?
