The bell that is in St Nick's Churchyard has a slot in the top. This was for the bell restoration fund from years ago. However the bell is welded to what it sits on so there's no way you'd be able to stick it in ya pocket

    Default st nick,s photos

the photos of st nicks were cracker, thanks a lot. I,ve just had a reference back from a relative to tell me that one of my relatives (loosely said) was one of the first bell ringers to have rung the present bells. His name was William Thistlewood and hailled from Birmingham. Apparently he and a gang of others used to travel the country ringing bells wherever they could.

The Area around the Otterspool Bull wasn't like that when I went last month. They were putting new railings down though and taking off the old ones with the red roses on them.

    Question Sefton Park Statues

Does anyone know when the statues in Sefton Park are due to be restored? Funding has been secured, but the restoration doesn't seem to have started yet.

    Default Melly Drinking Fountains.

I know ScouserDave has received this too. Pat has given me permission to post it up, hopefully there could be a monument erected to Melly somewhere within the new buildings going up or in the public green space.

Link to an article about Charles Pierre Melly and his Liverpool drinking fountains:

For pictures of his Liverpool drinking fountains, see:

    http://www.liverpoolmonuments.co.uk/drinking/melly.html

The Friends of Liverpool Monuments have been working with Liverpool City Council, the Culture Company & United Utilities on a project to re-introduce drinking fountain back onto the streets of Liverpool. The first to be connected to the the water supply is in Woolton Road, see:

    http://www.liverpoolmonuments.co.uk/...lrddkfn01.html

Th 'Friends' have spent 14 hours cleaning this fountain. Liverpool City Council have reconnected the drainage, United Utilities have installed a control box and will be connected the water supply soon. On the Thursday 22nd March (09:30-11:00) the fountain is due to be unveiled.

We at the 'Friends' would like to see new drinking fountains introduced in the public areas of new buildings in Liverpool city centre.

    Cheers,

    Pat

    Default Help

    Hello,

Your site is very good and I just wondered if anyone has an image of
the Monument to William Paulsom in Derby Park, Bootle please? I need to
talk about it for a lecture on 14th March and would be really grateful
    to see an image.

    Many thanks,

    Emma

Phredd, it was cleaned up and restored by three of my mates, Pat Neil of Liverpool Monuments, Robin Riley the sculptor and Ben Murphy (son of sculptor Tom Murphy) who is a monumental restorer. I've got some hires before and after images sent to me by Pat Neil. I'll post them after I've made the tea.
