Thanks, Dave and Phredd. They've done a fine restoration job, haven't they? I assume that the restored drinking fountain is not functional. Is that right? Also is what remains of the old tap to the right of the fountain? Do you think the lion's head was completely replaced or just somehow mended and coated with preservative?

One other comment. They made an interesting decision to fill in the date. I assume it might have been done because they thought that, if the incised lettering remained as it was, a vandal might chip away at it but that they might be less inclined to do so if the numbers were filled in.

Chris, I think it's functional again. Would have been nice to attend the launch.
BTW, is this Chapel street with St Nicks water fountain on the right?

Water state that's in Gerard, you're quite right.

They do the same when they lift fancy block paving up in the city centre, replace it with lumps of tarmac.

That is St. Nicks Dave. Haven't seen that before with the fancy structure around it.

Really nice photo Max. Your Sony camera seems to do the business. Isn't St Hugh's on Earle Rd and would that not make it in Edge Hill??

it's much easier with Sony and Photoshop.

Just sharpening and the odd noise reductions.

    Sometimes despeckle too.

According to Pat Neil, the next water fountain United Utilities are going to put back on again is the one outside St Mick's on West Derby Rd next to Ogdens. Pat's gone over there today to tidy it up. That was the church (and SFX) that all the RC side of my family used to attend.

    Default Superlambanana

THREE teenagers found themselves in a spot of bother after trying to scale one of Liverpool’s most recognisable landmarks.

The youngsters clambered onto the famous Superlambanana - currently stationed outside the JMU building on Tithebarn Street - but once up there could not get back down.

Their friends were unable to help, and the trio were eventually forced to call the Fire Service. continues....

Wrap 'em up in cotton wool these day Ged! We used to do the same, thing is though, if one tried to get down on their own and fell with an injury, there would probably be a claim there
