But aren't all European passenger aircraft equiped with ILS, radar and glide slope equipement, not to mention air traffic controllers? Also, I can't think of any reason why an aircraft would be allowed to leave/arrive any airport in foggy conditions using VFR. It would, in my opinion, take a catastrophic failure of almost all the the above plus some kind of mechanical failure, for an aircraft approaching/leaving Liverpool Airport to collide with anything in central Liverpool. But, stranger things have happened. I think any aircraft colliding with any tower on Brunswick Quay, although not impossible, highly improbable.
