What would of been wrong with taking a picture of the government building?
It's stupid isn't it? I wonder if there's an identical jobsworth outside the Palace of Westminster chasing away all those Japanese and American tourists?

Who was the greatest of them all?
    Little, Curly, Alan Ball.

Personally I find it best not to reduce the size too much. It makes for a better picture. Vey fine photos you took, Ken.

Speaking of not being able to take pics of certain places. A policeman told me it's against regulations to take any of the tunnel.

Strange though as on Thursday, I took some of the tunnel and police never came up to me then.

Ah well he thought it was a stupid regulation.

    Waterfront tower 'joyless and weak'
    Sep 19 2006
Exclusive By Kate Mansey Daily Post Staff

PLANS for Liverpool's tallest waterfront tower appeared in tatters last night after a government review condemned them as "joyless" and "weak".

Designs for Princes Dock outline an £80m, 36-storey glass-fronted building, near to the World Heritage Site, housing a large hotel and more than 180 apartments. But the body which advises the Government on architecture and design has found little to be impressed with in the proposals for the land, north of the Crowne Plaza hotel.

The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) has raised concerns about the tower's proximity to Liverpool's historic dock wall, warned of its weak architectural base, and criticised the size of the 330-space car park, when the development would only include 183 flats and 135 hotel rooms.

And last night English Heritage suggested the tower should be split into two smaller buildings. The CABE review said: "We find little to admire in the architectural form of the scheme, which appears to us to be joyless.

    Default Joyless and weak?

What the hell does joyless and weak mean?
Can anyone name a building that brings to mind joy?
This can't be knocked back just because its next to a minging 12 foot, ugly brick wall wrongly described in this article as "historic".
These people don't understand the meaning of the word.
It seems that the only thing to come from the phoney World Heritage status is the excuse for every backwards lunatic group to try and restrict Liverpool's regeneration by any means necessary.
    Well its got to stop.
Where were they when the Beetham tower was built in Manc?
Why are our politicians not telling these outsiders to mind their own business?
I feel like knocking the dock wall down with a JCB to put a stop to this cr*p.
    Rant over (for now!).

I had to laugh at English Heretics remarks that the tower could be split into two smaller buildings. Opportunistic *******s. They're the sole reason that WHS should be kicked into touch. You only need look at the site next door to view a compromised graceless stump designed to be 'in keeping' with the area. Bunch of vultures.

If this is considered joyless and weak, then what the hell is Beetham in Manc?

I think they want everything to be in basements and nothing above ground.

Beetham Manc is not an attractive building at all.

Beetham Manc is not in a World Heritage Zone. And they have a point about the multi-floor car park. One shoul not be allowed on any WHS or a buffer zone.

Where are they now there is a proposal to fill in West Waterloo Dock? I don't hear them shouting from the rooftops.

When English Heritage and CABE get together to condemn a tower it's usually it's death knell in its present form, the best case senario is they'll come back with a better design and the worst is English Heritage will get their way like they did at Central Village and we will end up with 2 smaller towers that do little for the skyline,my money's on the latter.
