I dont mean all the way back to Everton, just in the immediate vicinity of the river. Looking at the picture the original Beetham would be better at the front and what's proposed for plot 3a just behind although its easy to say that now we're thinking bolder and taller than when beetham was proposed/built.
This picture of New York is the point I'm trying to make about taller buildings at the back
Why not 'suck up' to the wirral and the river when it's the best view of the city? If you have a strength you should exploit it imo.
I bet the people paying good money for River views are a wee bit miffed when another, taller tower comes along in front of it, reminds me of when I used to get to the match fifteen minutes early for a great speck only to be foiled by that 6'6'' giant walking in at the last minute with his chips, but at least I could try and move.
That's the one Kev. Wouldn't have been so bad if he wasn't 6'6'' wide too
I think that taking 3 floors off coupled with the lower level of the ground will make quite a big difference in making sure that the buildings behind aren't blocked from view. I agree that this is the best view of Liverpool therefore it should be exploited and preserved as much as possible. Most of Liverpool can't see the city centre as Liverpool is built on a hill, with the centre on one side and the rest of the city on the other.
If it wasn't for the Wirral Brunswick Quay would have been built.
If it wasn't for the Wirral Liverpool wouldn't be what it is today. WHS and preserving views IMO had nothing to do with this scheme being rejected, the fact that ruth kelly made the decision was the reason alone. Her adviser told her to give it the go ahead but she is just anti-tall. Look at what she's up to in London, it's pathetically backward.

London don't want no tall building rivals.
They have this 1002 feet tower approved to be finished by 2010.

.....and from The Echo yesterday:
A SKYSCRAPER planned for Liverpool's waterfront will be reduced from 37 to 30 storeys, following scathing criticism in a report by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE). more
