It happens to me and my wife says "why didn't you introduce me" and I say "I don't know who he/she is/I don't know his/her name".
I have have conversations with people for ages and all I can think is who are you/whats your name/where do I know you from?

Seems alll a bit cruel now really - I wonder if they caught a verucca like the rest of us?

And they did used to put flooring over the baths for dances - lots of the old folk will confirm that - many a budding romance started at the Baths dances
Anyway back to the Garston thread

Sweetpatooti, do you remember the dolphins names?

behave yourself!! It was about the time of Flipper and I think one of them was called after that dolphin - but I cannot remember. In fact I had forgotten all about it until you put it in your post then it all came flooding back!!! I'll ask some other old Garston folk and see what I can report back.

I remember the woodies christmas parties.
Me and my brothers would be taken to the barbers under the bridge, we knew him as the pole, I always thought it was because of the barbers pole outside, but it was because he was polish

Would love to see old garston pictures, have a look at my website if you get the chance.

Me Dad always went to the pole - I didn't know he was Polish - I thought it was because of the pole outside too until you told me!!! I never went in when I was little because I was a laydee (still am by the way). Do you know where the 9 o'clock hooter comes from (i know it goes of at quarter to nine but it's still called the 9 o'clock hooter) - I was born here and still do not know.

Maybe it gave people 15 mins to get to work,
Did anyone go to the woodies parties?

I remember when you became grown up and got a wallet with half a crown inside from the party, why a wallet that you would never use again beats me
For those wondering about the woodies

Never went the Woodies parties - remember the band in the carnival though.

And another thing Kev and Spenny and others - nobody told me that the new road was blocked off at the bottom - I drove all the way down there with me Mam thinking I would miss the cones on Speke Road and I have to come back again - by that time the new print works builders were knocking off and I was behind all them to get out.....

    The Old Garston Hotel Site:

    The Woody (Cressington Heath)

    Dock Road

These houses have always fascinated me ever since I was a kid. People still live in them!
