ARABIC dancing, singing and drumming will be attractions at a celebration arranged by Merseyside ' s Yemeni community.

The family day on Sunday is the second annual celebration held by the community and more than 500 are expected to attend.

Groups from Yemeni communities in Sheffield, Manchester and Cardiff have been invited.

The event at Green-bank Sports Academy, Green Bank Lane, Aigburth, is free and runs from 1-5pm.

Members of the public can try their hand at Arabic calligraphy and hear acapella singing as well as take part in basketball and mini-tennis taster sessions.

Guests will include the Yemeni ambassador and Liverpool's Lord Mayor.



Taher Qassim from the Liverpool Yemeni Organ-isation Forum said: "We want to send a message that we're part of the city."
