    Talking Liverpool's 3 Graces

LIVERPOOL'S famous Liver Building has been named among the UK's favourite landmarks.

The London Eye topped the poll, followed by Big Ben and Birmingham's Bullring, which opened in 2003.

The top ten also featured Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower which opened last year and, contrastingly, Peterborough's 12th century cathedral.

Darren Peake, of Fujifilm who carried out the survey , said: "The UK's top ten landmarks highlight the fantastic diversity of architecture and design that is on offer."

What isn't generally known about the Liver Building is the fact that it was the tallest office

building in the UK until after World War 2, and that includes London.
Thinking of this always make me think it ironic that really tall buildings never

seem to get built in Liverpool.
Even the Beetham Tower is only about the same height as the Liver Building.

The West one will be bigger than the Radio City

    tower.

The Bull Ring is an historic address, but is most famous for the 1960s Shopping Centre with the tall cylindrical building (the

    Rotunda).
The shopping centre has been replaced but the Rotunda is now a Listed

    Building.
