JIMMY Osmond leapt to the rescue of a stricken Liverpool hotel guest who had smashed his head open on a basin.

The Chicago star discovered a man lying in a pool of blood in the changing rooms of the Radisson Hotel gym on city centre Old Hall Street at 2.15pm yesterday.

A witness said: ?Jimmy ran downstairs and spoke to two girls who were on reception, telling them there was a man on the floor in a pool of blood.

?The girls and Jimmy went upstairs and stayed with him and did what they could until the ambulance came.

?The guy looked like he was fitting. He was just out of it. It was horrible to see.?

The ambulance service arrived and treated the man at the scene while Jimmy, believed to have been staying at the Radisson while he appears as Billy Flynn in Chicago at the Empire, comforted him. It is understood Jimmy was having a treatment in the beauty parlour and was headed for the sauna when he found the man lying alone.

Jimmy, the youngest of the Osmond singing clan, first found fame singing Long Haired Lover from Liverpool, a song which topped the charts in 1972 when he was just 9 years and 8 months old.

In an interview last month the star said: ?I always love coming back to this city. It?s like coming home.?
