    Default Otterspool Aigburth South Liverpool

Had a nice time at what has to be the best play area in Liverpool, the views of the river are excellent:

    Hi Joe

Took a liberty with your photographs. I hope you like the sentiment. Will also post a couple of your pics elsewhere and of course credit you if that is okay.

    Sick of the photographs
    of oil-slicked pelicans

    of corporate executives
    and playboy serial killers,

I wish instead just to dream
    like Millais' "Bubbles" and wander
    the rhododendron path
    of a childhood park.

The area around the old W.C. is due to be cleared soon, for better facilities. There are several large stone blocks scattered around Otterspool. Some have the remains of railings, some others have grooves. Pretty hefty, they could be from the dock/dam?

In regard to those large slabs of sandstone that Marky showed and wondered if they were from the dock/dam that used do be at the mouth of the old Otterspool as shown in Griffiths' History of the Royal and Ancient Park of Toxteth, to my mind, there's a good likelihood that's where they are from. Particularly the big piece of sandstone with the notch in it could have been from the lock gate, conceivably.
