Split Enz did go on to become Crowded House, but Mental as Anything are a seperate band, who are still around,at least in Australia!
Just bought another copy of 'Nine Tonight' from Amazon for £7 - last one was stoled a few years ago. Playing it constantly in my car.

You right wsteve,I think album was called "Mental Notes" soz, need to get the old brain working again
We used to perform 'I got you' by Split Enz back in 80/81.
Nobody has mentioned the Knightsbridge in Duke St.
My favourite haunt was the Cavern, where I met my wife, and then Ugly's.
How many can remember Ugly's full name when it opened?

Oh, forgot to mention that the night usually started in O'Connors.
Hi nikl,I remember the Knightsbridge, think it became the pink parrot,
until the shootings or visa versa,Ged will put me right,
I did a post on O'Connors remember it well ,
Hi Savo, when did you frequent O'C's, I was a regular from about 69-72. There were a lot of characters in that place, and I knew quite a few of them.
Ged,
Neil and Tim Finn live here in Auckland and in fact Neil's son is also a great musician. They have just been playing concerts down at the waterfront while the Rugby World Cup was on. The song, Always Take the Weather With You is a real favourite here in New Zealand.
If you go onto the Real Groovy website they will have plenty of Split Endz/ Crowded House music secondhand
at www.realgroovy.co.nz They specialise in vinyl but have millions of CDs and you can put stuff on a wish list and see if its traded in. Let me know if you want me to pick anything up and mail it out to you-
Was a regular at O'C's a bit later, 71,till it's demise,a few years later! I eventually got hold of a copy of the Liverpool Scene album,"Amazing Adventures of..." who's cover has a picture of the band, and various regulars, standing at the entrance, and got it framed! Happy days!
Nikl,
It would of been around 75 I was in O'Connors, was The Knightsbridge also The Pink Parrot,on the corner of the opposite end of block to The Monroe Pub,which was run in the 80's by Peter Mac,
Annabels in the 70's was a top night club I believe. I bet a few of you "oldies" shook yer booty there a few times.
Keeping it real!
