    Default The Royal Institute,Colqitt St


    Built in 1799 for Thomas Parr as a warehouse, bought in 1817 by the Royal
    Institute for the promotion of literature,science and the arts. William Roscoe gave the inaugral adress. It also housed a boy`s grammar school until 1892.With the opening of the William Brown libraries and museum it went into decline.
