Listening to a programme on Afghanistan the other day, I suddenly thought
of King Amanullah. Can anyone remember his visit to Liverpool in the 1930's
or ever heard mention of it? I think he made a ceremonial trip round the
city and I've a vague recollection we were given a day off from school to go
and watch it.
I've tried 'Search' on YOL but nothing came up. Also a perfunctory look at Google just to check there was a visit, and there was.
Anybody know what it was all about? Why his special interest in Liverpool?
