    Default Bankhall Bridge area

Bankhall bridge warehouse, built in 1874, with it`s bricked up entrance where the barges used to enter to unload out of the weather.

The old wooden covered loading bay part of the Bankhall warehouse on the canal

Bankhall Bridge with it`s spiral staircase

Another old warehouse in the bankhall area of the canal

Approaching the Bankhall Bridge. The visitors to Liverpool`s canal link have all this beatiful scenery to see

Just down Bankhall Lane from Bankhall station,I normally get off the train at Sandhills station on my meanderings and walk up to the canal steps on Sandhills Lane turning left for the Bankhall area. If I`m going to the city centre I walk right and proceed to the Stanley Locks, walk down them then on to the docks area,a cup of tea and a mars bar from the mobile outside the Heritage market, then on to the city centre, looking for pictures all the time. Then I finish with a pint in the Midland pub before getting a train home for my tea. It`s hard work being a pensioner.

Seen from the canal bank just past Bankhall bridge decided to have a look in

This was outside the front gate of Skinners Cooperage on Canal St

    This is Skinners yard

Some barrels with metal hoops and hazel hoops around them.
Skinners have quite a list of clients including the Tower of London,Guiness and BBC props. Don`t suppose there are many cooperages left now

Scouse, Eldonian Village goes from Chisenhale st to Boundary street incorporating Athol Village. The industry such as Tate and Lyle and Athol st gas works was cleared there to make way for the Eldonian housing co-operative. That area is Vauxhall L3 towards Kirkdale L5.

Joe's pics were taken further north in Bootle from Bankhall street where the canal runs parallel with Brasenose Road, L20.
