    Default Town Hall 1980's Takeover?

My dad was involved in supporting the expelled 49 Liverpool councilors in the 1980's. He told me as did others that he was one of the people who locked themselves inside Liverpool Town Hall over night. I believe there is a photo of him on the balcony somewhere?

Trying to find a date for when this happened? or any info about such an event?

    any ideas

    Hi Spike,
I see / speak to Harry Rimmer, former leader of the city council in Liverpol during the 80's, he will know all about it I'm sure. I'll probably see him tomorrow so will ask him all about it. He's 80 now but remembers all sorts of things with dates etc. .
    Will let you know,

    Martin.

    PS
Had a quick google too !

    Hey Martin cheers mate

Bernie ***** is my dad. I wish I had asked him more while he was still with us.

Ged gave me a link on his inercityliving photo site that shows him on a video.

Just hoping to find a rough date, then I can search the papers.

Thank you for your support from a fellow Old Swanie

Tony, apologies for not getting back sooner....

Spoke to Harry on Wednesday night, he reckons the council lockin was late 86 and they got disqualified, then the lib dems took over until May 87 when there was a new election. He remembers your dads name but sadly he never really knew his personally. Hope this helps as a starting point, Mart
