I doubt the old community spirit will reappear here or anywhere else shortly but that's probably just a sign of the times too.

Agree with this last bit. It's the Queens Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and I can't image us having street parties like those in the pics I posted from 1977. It's a shame but I can't really say much coz I never talk to my neighbours other than to say hello

The Albany has an interior similar to this, very much like the inside of the Seaman's mission which Colin Wilkinson posted up.

Seaman's mission's interior - if we decided to build it again today, sadly that's what it would look like inside.

There certainly isn't. I wonder if you can hear through the walls? I live in an old apartment building 1909 I think so thick walls, you cannot hear from one to another. They were originally one apartment per floor ,now two one bedroomed and two studios (single room) per floor.

I remember Colliers, think I got some school uniform there. Did it have like a wooden staircase in the middle? Are there any old pictures of the inside that you know off Ged?

I remember they has polished wooden drawers with the socks and undies in them, like Grace Borthers. They also had that tubular payment system where it went up the pipes to the offices above and you had to wait for you change. You wouldn't be arsed if it was 1d.
