    Unhappy

Our Woolies shuts last week (Old Swan). I knew some of the staff - been there years - remember going in when I was about 14 - and two of them worked there then!

I went in just before Christmas to wish them well and I filled up - as did they.

Feel really sorry for those who've lost their jobs and really sad that Woolies have gone - realistically for good!

But Woolies, no matter how sad it is, made a rod for it's own back when it started to branch out in other business aspects, yet kept them all under the one roof. Woolies to me was somewhere to go which was like a glorified Chandlers shop in which everything for D&Y and the like was under one roof.

If you look at Wilkinson's shops, these are virtually what Woolies were famous for doing - selling decent goods at decent prices.

We were bombarded with Woolies adverts last Christmas which would have cost a fortune, did they not see this coming?

The real people that have lost out are the workers who have done nothing wrong - I sympathise with them seeing as I too left a career after 13 years only a couple of years ago while all the top brass kept their seats.

I was surprised to see a TV advert for Woolies tonight- but woolworths.co.uk. Apparently they've not gone- just gone online!

That'll save on a few shop rents and staff wages.
