Driver goes on wrecking spree after stealing Range Rover
Nov 18 2008 by Alan Weston, Liverpool Daily Post

THIEVES went on a wrecking spree after stealing a Range Rover from outside a house in Aigburth.

The drama began on Sunday evening when two men sneaked into the house in North Road while the 55-year-old occupant was outside, and stole keys to two cars parked on the driveway.

The occupant?s wife spotted the men, shut the gates to the driveway and stood in front of them in a bid to prevent the cars, a black Range Rover Vogue and an Audi saloon, being stolen.

The man managed to push his wife out of the way as the offenders drove straight through the gates in the Range Rover.

About 20 minutes later, the Range Rover was reversed through a garden fence in Maiden Lane, Clubmoor, before driving off at speed.

Within minutes, the driver of the Range Rover became involved in a confrontation with the driver of a Vauxhall Astra and attempted to ram the other vehicle.

The driver of the Range Rover lost control and the vehicle rolled on to its side. The offenders then escaped.

The Astra driver was uninjured.

DCI Peter Parry, of Merseyside Police, said: ?I am appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to the burglary at North Road and the subsequent incidents involving the stolen Range Rover to help us.

?Fortunately, although a frightening experience, no-one was injured in any of these incidents, but it could easily have been a very different story.?
