there was one at the junction of Yanwath and Magdala Streets by Smithdown Rd/Lodge Lane. My half aunt's grandfather was a gravedigger at the cemetery and frequented the cocoa rooms. on a Sunday he'd put on his best uniform and help people find graves etc.

The moderator of the Old Liverpool flickr photo group responded on that forum (of which I;'m not a member) that there were of course lots of cocoa rooms, though probably not as many as pubs!

Just wondeirng because my great grandfather ran away from home in Everton in about 1890 and was picked up by a travelling printer, whose first act was to take feed him up at the adjacent cocoa rooms. It made me wonder if there were lots of them or if it were unusual -- obviously the former is tru -- but itr could well have been the one on Homer St or near Smithdown Road... who knows

There were lots and in my LRO visits to scan photos i've seen loads of pics of them in backgrounds. There was one in Richmond Row and one in Byrom Street for sure.
