Football pitches for school

THE final stage of eight years of regeneration work in Speke is under way with the demolition of Speke District Centre.

It will be replaced by two football pitches and three five-a-side pitches for Parklands school and the community. The work will also pave the way for a new health centre.

The £2.5m facilities should be ready within a year.

A Morrison’s superstore has already been built as part of the regeneration.

Rob Monaghan at regeneration agency Liverpool Vision said: “This is long awaited news for the residents of the area to see these buildings demolished and replaced with fabulous facilities both for the school and the community.”
