    Default Utting Avenue

Hope this is the right place for this thread.
Have just been down Utting Avenue by Liverpool Football Club, and some if not all the trees on the Avenue are being cut down. Is this more vandalism going on in the name of so called improvements for the Anfield area? We are going to lose half of Stanley Park, now they are chopping the trees down. The only thing left in Anfield soon that is green will be there away strip.

In the echo it said that they will be replanting 30 new trees.

    I hope they do.

Yes I was down that way on Friday and took some pic,s of
the guys up the tree,s with chainsaws in hand....
I like trees but to be honest some of them are a right pain, blocking
    light, blocking gutters etc.

Hi steveb I like trees as well, but i don't think they will block as much light out as a 60 thousand seater stadium will or block as many gutters as all the chip paper and fast food cartons that the fans leave behind

Looks bad. Nothing wrong with big trees. So they said they're gonna plant new ones? Why not just "trim" the old ones?
    It's sad.

One hopes this isn't universal along all of Utting Avenue!

I can see the point of them blocking light...especially at night where the trees will have obscured several of the streetlights along there...but that shouldn't warrant cutting em' all down!

Was the image taken near to a Junction?? Get the impression a filter lane might soon occupy the once wooded area in the pic.

yes, I think it's something to do with traffic management.

I do love trees too, but I recall something in the Echo a long time back about residents on a tree lined road somehwere saying how dark their houses are and that the leaves in the gutters are a problem.

I know the houses on Lower Breck rd look gloomy with the trees blocking out the light.

.. but I do like the look of tree lined avenues. I'd rather have trees than not have them.

I think there are," things afoot", ie, as was mentioned a right turn filter.
And I agree with the 60,000 seater stadium post, personal opinion is
the statium should be out of the residential areas.
Were I live, It is a cul-de-sac only 8 houses, but 3 rather large Sycamor
trees and when in leaf my living room is like the black hole of Calcuta, to add
insult to injury, I also have a 50Ft Sycamor in the side garden, so before the
Green bins, in the Autumn, side garden about 30 bags of leaves and weeks
getting rid of the seeds, plus getting gutters cleared out.
I still like trees though :-)
