An impromptu 'Ticket to Ride' acoustic version got these ladies singing and dancing.

The area was packed again with tourists taking snaps of each other by anything to do with the Beatles which is why we cannot possibly overplay them. Deacon Blue and Brit Floyd have just done the Echo arena and Blondie who were playing the 02 academy off London Road were staying in the Hard days night Beatles hotel just around the corner from here..

Not sure I like John's 'bob' hairdo!!! Love that it is all happening though. Friend of mine said today that Liverpool is packed in the city center every weekend recently and throngs of people having a good time. Love it!

That's true Roni, the pier head hasn't seen anything like it for a long time for sure. The new ferry landing stage is going in within the next few months too. The city centre is mayhem and it's great to see people sitting out al fresco at so many new bars around the likes of Duke St, Tithebarn st and Manchester St to name but a few and outside a few of the not so new bars like the Slaughterhouse and Queens.

    Happy faces.

If he thinks he looks good then he's a sponge short of a fruitcake.

    WHY?

Normal sized fonts will do....we're not partially blind.

I don't see the connection here between your question and my post.

No,If I cannot read the text in a book, that means I'm partially blind ie everything is blurred and doesn't register as to what it is.

If I can read the text of large format but not small format then I'm partially sighted.

Ladies fingers are another name for okra - not something that would go too well in a trifle!

The above Italian ones are crisp for tiramisu, which my wife expects. I'm not sure if I've seen spongey ones.

[/COLOR]All the English trifle recipes I have ever seen call for Lady Fingers. They are in packages , they are similar in texture to sponge but crisper. More solid. I have used them in the UK instead of sponge cake many times. They 'hold' better.
1 (8") sponge layer or 2 pkgs. lady fingers
    1 1/2 c. chopped strawberries
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. sherry
    2 c. heavy cream, whipped
3 c. custard, cold (I use Bird's English Dessert Mix, using 4 tbsp. each of mix & sugar, 2 1/2 c. milk) 7 whole strawberries & mint leaves (garnish)

Put sponge cake or lady fingers in small pieces in the bottom of a glass serving bowl. Top with strawberries, sugar and sherry. Spoon in cold custard. Top with whipped cream and garnish with mint leaves and whole berries. Chill until ready to serve. Trifle can also be made in individual parfait glasses. Other fruits may be added in place of all or part of the strawberries. However, the total amount should not excess 1 1/2 cups. Drained fruit cocktail may be used.

12-24 Lady Fingers (or slices of sponge, angel food cake, pound cake &/or almond macaroons)
    2-3 c. soft custard
1/2 c. sherry or marsala wine (or 1/4 c. wine plus 1/4 c. orange juice)
1/2-1 c. strawberry jam (or raspberry or red currant jelly)
    1 c. whipping cream
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
6-8 almond macaroons (or shortbread cookies)

A little walk into town to meet my bro, sis in law and nephew before a mini pub crawl. No, this isn't my bro.

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

First port of call was Matou and that terrace - again. Just in time to see the bow thrusts set Aida on her way. There was a large crowd at the rear of the ship saying their goodbyes.

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The IOM Seacat soon got after her - race on!

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

We had a pint in the Tradewinds bar, 2nd floor of the Atlantic Tower Hotel on the terrace and took this as the sun shone on the Liver. We got gabbing to a gang of lads from Newcastle, 3 from Blackburn who make a thing of going to different cities once every few weeks and we got the thumbs up and some Irish lads over for the match.

On our way to the Pig & Whistle, alarm bells were sounding in the Unity building then this little lot turned up.

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Then across to the corn market. This never used to be open on a Saturday, instead catering for office workers during the week which would see it stay open on friday nights only. Lots of blue funnel line pics in here on the wall and a fella playing the old joanna. Saw our old mate Luke from the Vernon in there who along with ourselves helped to keep the place open in the 80s.
