Yeah...I agree, the Dock does seem a lot closer now.

Default Liverpool ONE - October 2008

I took over 200 photographs in Liverpool today; here are just a selection of the photos from Liverpool ONE.

This wasn't my first visit to Liverpool ONE, but each time I do visit I am amazed.

Liverpool has come so far, in such a short space of time.

There will still be people who knock Liverpool, but walk around the city... nobody can argue that things are on the up.

It's great that visitors to the city can now disembark their cruise ships at Pier Head, walk through Albert Dock, into Liverpool ONE and then into the city.

Liverpool ONE is definitely the icing on the cake in our city's bid to become a European shopping destination.

architecture became very uniform. Glass, steel, ..... these building could also have been built in Germany. Only these brown colour of that one building is very Liverpoolish.
And I suppose there does only one company produce the handrails for the whole world.

The old "park" was little more than brick rubble with a thin layer of grass and soil and a path to the Albert Dock dating only from the early 1980's. The only connection to Noewl Chavasse was the name, which remains.
The new place is a million times better.

Yes it looks very nice but the standard of the concrete work is woeful. There is re-bar showing through the concrete,a large section of the car park floor had to be ripped up and replaced because the re-bar was sticking out.The units around the base of the park leak because of the bad finnishing to the expansion joints. Is this the result of unskilled foreign labour and the client pushing to complete on time ? I think it is.

No. It is the result of the on-site engineers and foremen who oversee the construction.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

I really like the new centre, I was sceptical at first about the impact on other shops and businesses, but now that most of it's open I'm very impressed, and town's never been busier. Exploring all the new streets and alley ways is interesting and there are new views of the older buildings everywhere. I think that the new restaurants on the top floor of L1 that runs into the park are going to be lovely to sit outside in the summer, and the curved glass frontage to the shops in Keys Court is a modern take on a Victorian shopping arcade. It'll be nice to see the old Quiggins building when its finished. Everyone's photo's of the area are great to see
